We needed a slab for a heavy garden room plus a retaining nib to hold the bank. Backhouse Construction & Landscaping set shuttering true, mesh on proper chairs and finished with a tidy arris so water sheds instead of sulking along the edge.
The little wall has weep holes and a clean face ready for cladding. They staged deliveries sensibly so the street never blocked. It looks simple on the surface because the hard thinking went in underneath.

Backhouse Construction & Landscaping cleared an old rubble patch, dug for a resin drive and left a compacted base you could park a bus on. Edges are true, channels aligned and there’s a proper fall to the gully.
The prep feels bulletproof.

Backhouse Construction & Landscaping dug for a new resin drive while repairing a fractured clay pipe they found on day one. Both jobs ran together without stepping on each other.
Pipe bedded in sand, warning tape laid, covers set flush. The base looks bulletproof and the front now sheds water to the channel as designed. The inspector liked what he saw.

Backhouse Construction & Landscaping rebuilt a collapsed drain run, set new covers level and reinstated the gravel path so it looks planned, not patched. They managed spoil on tarps and left the neighbour’s border untouched.
First heavy rain since and the gully finally draws as it should. Worth every penny for the lack of drama.

Backhouse Construction & Landscaping stripped topsoil, set levels and compacted stone until the plate barely bounced. Footings boxed neatly and concrete arrived bang on time.
Road swept before they left. Organised from first knock.

Dan found why our old step kept shifting. Poor backfill, soft pocket underneath.
He dug it out, laid geotextile, compacted Type 1 and cast a small ground beam to tie the corner together. He explained it all in plain English so we could follow along. Door opens without scraping for the first time in years. He popped back after curing to check levels and promised to tweak if needed. Didn’t need a thing. That kind of care builds trust.

Dan planned a tidy trench for water and power to a garden room. Sand bed, warning tape, clean cuts and everything backfilled so the lawn isn’t a patchwork.
He labelled a sketch showing routes which our electrician loved. Small care like that saves future headaches. Straight answers, steady work, no fuss.

Dan kept notes tidy, sent progress photos and left the site secure each evening. He ran a simple water test to prove the new fall before signing off.
It’s rare to feel informed rather than managed on jobs like this. The ground is ready, the base feels solid and we’re excited rather than anxious about the next stage.

Old drains were a mess. They traced routes, replaced crushed pipe and backfilled in layers.
Drive sits firm now and the gully actually catches water.

Backhouse Construction & Landscaping organised the concrete so the lorry arrived between school runs. Footings were boxed smartly, steel tied clean and there were no muddy trails across the road.
The pour finished dead flat and the team left the place looking like a drawing, not a building site. You feel at ease when people work like that.

We needed septic tank upgrades at the cottage. Dan organised the dig, bedding, connections and tidy reinstatement.
Clear advice, polite crew and no torn-up verge.
